Contact Lens Solution Recall
If you have been using AMO, Inc.'s Complete Moisture PLUS contact lens solution, you most likely realize by now that you may have been exposed to undue risk of serious health problems as a result of using this product. Statistics have begun to show that this risk exists, and AMO, Inc. has recently initiated a voluntary recall of this product.
Side Effects to Watch For

The reason to seek medical help if you are experiencing these symptoms and you've been using Complete Moisture PLUS is because you may be in the early stages of developing a condition known as Acanthamoeba keratitis, or "AK." AK is a serious eye infection most commonly caused by the presence of a parasite, and the result of suffering from AK is that patients could need a corneal transplant and could even lose their eyesight. As of now, there is no known cure for AK.
How this Problem was Discovered
The risk of developing AK from the use of Complete Moisture PLUS was discovered after a series of studies were performed by several entities, including the Illinois Department of Public Health, the University of Illinois-Chicago and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. All of the statistical trends were found to be consistent.
These trends include a much higher risk of those who used this product for developing AK. Generally, AK occurs in two out of every 1 million contact lens users in the United States, but these studies showed that those who used Complete Moisture PLUS faced a risk that was at least seven times greater than the norm. This statistical trend was what led to the recall.
